MassArt’s Doran Graduate Gallery is pleased to present What Remains: 2025 Summer MFA Thesis Exhibition. Featuring the seven 2025 MFA Low-Residency graduates, What Remains is on view July 21 – August 8, with a reception (6-8pm) on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.

What Remains is the supplementary thesis exhibit of the 2025 graduating class of the low-residency MFA program. The show includes artifacts of what sustained us throughout our time at Massachusetts College of Art and Design. These works reveal what has been left behind — the evidence — after all of the relationships with faculty and mentors, reading, writing, and studio work we have accomplished. We invite you to be material witnesses to our various art making processes — using such media as paint, ink, paper, clay, fabric, and caulk to speak to memory and the body, language and signaling, and materiality and the unconscious. What Remains also refers to a kind of grief felt when a set period of time ends, and the hope and possibility that comes with a fresh start. Not only is the work a signal of what we are leaving behind, but a passageway that will lead us back to our own communities at home. This is what will stay with us after we’re gone, and it’s what we offer now to our MassArt community.
