Opening Reception: Thursday, July 30, 5-7pm

Here in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the birthplace of the American Revolution, we commemorate this national milestone with a special exhibition, Vanguard of Democracy: Massachusetts and the Making of LGBTQ+ America

July 6 -  August 15th

The exhibition traces how Massachusetts helped lead the nation in advancing LGBTQ+ civil rights—from the first openly gay and lesbian Americans elected to public office to the first legal same-sex marriages in the country. Arriving in the year of America’s 250th anniversary, Vanguard of Democracy makes an intentional reminder: LGBTQ+ history is American history.
