About this Event
Free EventThe MassArt Department of Architecture invites you to join the Spring 2023 Tuesday Talks speaker series for Indigenous Woodworking in Massachusetts with Andreus Ridley & Thomas Green in person at MassArt Kennedy Building Room 406 on Tuesday, April 18 at 6pm.
A cultural connection to the forest and to the power of trees is something that Native People in Massachusetts have sustained even in current times. There is a great deal to learn from a tradition that respects trees as both a resource and as fellow living things. Andreus and Thomas bring different experiences to the table, but both draw on their heritage and knowledge of working with wood. They will be talking about using custom sawn material to support local artisans and also about the ancient technique of creating a Mishoon, or log canoe, using fire and water.
This event is free and open to the public.
For questions about attending the in-person event, contact MassArt Graduate Programs at gradprogram@massart.edu.
