https://massart.edu/program/photography/lecture-series/ #massart_photographyThe MassArt Graduate Programs and Photography department are pleased to welcome Tanyth Berkeley as a visiting artist of the Spring 2026 Photography Lecture Series. Please join us in the Tower Auditorium at 2:00pm on Tuesday, April 7.
Tanyth Berkeley celebrates the beautiful and rare by portraying a cross-section of individuals. Representing the collective desires, struggles and physical manifestations of people with albinism, streetwalkers and other standouts from the mainstream, the works describe the independence of Berkeley’s subjects and the fallout from patriarchal order. Her work often meditates upon the particular empathic relationship between artist and muse. Berkeley was born in Hollywood, California, and currently lives and works in New York. She received her MFA in photography from Columbia University in 2004 and holds a BA from City College of New York in photography and creative writing. Her work has been shown in numerous exhibitions including “New Photography” at the Museum of Modern Art in 2007, and exhibitions at Bellwether, Danziger Projects and the Saatchi Gallery.
All Photography lectures are free and open to the public.
