Please join us in the Tower Auditorium at 6:00pm on Tuesday, April 22nd.
Kathya Maria Landeros is a Mexican-American photographer and educator. Influenced by her bi-cultural upbringing, her work of over two decades pictures Latino communities, including her own family. Central to her research is the exploration of history, migration, representation and belonging.
Her research has been supported through fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and the Fulbright, and residencies at the Rayko Photo Center, the Center for Photography at Woodstock, Kala Art Institute and most recently at Anderson Ranch.
She began teaching in the Central Valley, starting as a substitute teacher in Yolo County and then, years later, as an adjunct professor at Cosumnes River Community College and California State University in Sacramento. Currently she is an assistant professor in the Art Department and a Knafel Assistant Professor in Humanities at Wellesley College. She holds a graduate degree in photography from MassArt and a dual undergraduate degree in English literature and Hispanic studies from Vassar College.
All Photography lectures are free and open to the public.
