We’re living through a social emergency — a moment when many rights, supports, and freedoms are being challenged. It’s easy to feel disconnected or powerless. A Social Emergency Response Center (SERC) is a community-powered space to gather, slow down, make, eat, talk, and dream together about what rebuilding justice, connection, and belonging could look like — through art, community, and collective action.

This is an all-hands, all-hearts space, open to everyone. All MassArt students, staff, and faculty are invited to drop in and participate.

This SERC is part of an ongoing collaboration among students, staff, and faculty who want to respond to our times with creativity, solidarity, and radical care. The SERC framework originates from the Design Studio for Social Intervention (DS4SI) in Dorchester, who imagined these centers as creative hubs for collective healing and action.
