Quan Barry

Born in Saigon and raised on Boston’s northshore, Quan Barry is the Lorraine Hansberry Professor of English at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Barry is the author of seven books of fiction and poetry, including the recent novel When I'm Gone, Look for Me in the East. O Magazine described her second novel, We Ride Upon Sticks, as, “Spellbinding, wickedly fun"; Sticks won the 2021 Alex Award from the American Library Association. Barry is also one of a select group of writers to receive NEA fellowships in both poetry and fiction. Currently she is serving as the first ever Forward Theater Writer-in-Residence. Her first play production, The Mytilenean Debate, was staged in spring 2022.
