Patagonia's Worn Wear Tour

Brandon Richards from Patagonia is bringing the Worn Wear Tour to MassArt!

The Patagonia "Worn Wear" Repair Truck will be at the west end of the Tower Lobby (where the Lobby meets the DMC). Each day students, faculty, staff, and people from the neighborhood anybody can bring one item of clothing--made by any manufacturer (not just Patagonia)--and the representative will demonstrate how to repair it: fix zippers, repair holes, sew hems, add buttons.

Learn how to repair clothes, rather than casually throw them away. Have you ever considered the resources--material and labor--which go into your clothing? Did you know that discarded clothing commonly ends up in landfills, rather than be recycled, upcycled, or repurposed? By learning the basics of clothing repair you can keep your clothes longer, and make better use of many natural and human resources. Even if your clothes are currently in perfect condition, drop by and watch the repairs--you might need these skills in the future.

The Worn Wear crew welcomed my whole Form Study class and gave a mission-driven introduction to the project. It could have seemed like just a corporate promotional event if the folks there didn't so earnestly embody the ethos the project aspires to.
Well done, and thanks.
