On view from August 26-September 23rd in the Doran and Brant Galleries.

This exhibition brings together the practices of MassArt’s recently hired tenure track faculty (2023–25), foregrounding the relationship between research and pedagogy. The selected works are accompanied by teaching philosophies, offering an insight into the frameworks that shape each artists’ studio and classroom.

The approaches are diverse yet interconnected: Sandra Erbacher examines systems of power and representation; Youjin Moon cultivates cross-disciplinary investigations into media and form; Tore Terrasi emphasizes discovery through experimentation and failure; Caroline Hu situates science as a profoundly human and communicative practice; and Marjee Levine frames sculpture as a process of transformation, kinship, and resilience.

Taken together, the exhibition articulates teaching as a mode of practice in its own right; an endeavor that not only transmits knowledge but also produces new ways of thinking, making, and fostering a community.
