Life After MassArt  (A Virtual Presentation/On Zoom)

Join us as we hear from 3 MassArt graduates, Shanti Mirdayanti (BFA Animation 2019), Alex Nally (BFA SIM 2016) and Mel Taing (BFA Film/Video 2016) who will share their different journeys since graduating from MassArt, their experiences exploring their career options,  networking, finding opportunities, interviewing and navigating life after MassArt.

 

  • Shanti Mirdayanti (BFA Animation 2019) is an illustrator and animator based in NYC. She works as a full-time motion designer for Richard Lewis Media Group (RLMG), an acclaimed digital design studio specializing in interactive installations, films and custom applications for public spaces. As a motion designer at RLMG, Shanti has worked on over 15 exhibits across the United States with clients including the Concord Museum, SMUD Museum of Science and Curiosity, and American Society of Radiologic Technologists. Her work includes fully illustrated cartoons, infographics, and interactive games.
  • Alexander Armand Ribeiro Nally, Esq. (BFA SIM 2016) (Alex) is a legal designer and practitioner who co-designs policies that center dignity and human experiences within legal systems, and currently serves as Legislative Director and Deputy General Counsel for Massachusetts State Senator Julian Cyr. Previously, Alex served as Assistant General Counsel at the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education where he implemented landmark higher education legislation in the areas of state authorization, preventing college closures, and ending campus sexual misconduct; and as Development & Marketing Manager for the Boston Alliance of LGBTQ+ Youth, Inc. (BAGLY) before that, he supported campaigns to expand BAGLY’s life-saving LGBTQ+ youth programming. Alex’s achievements have been recognized through a Citation for Outstanding Performance from the Department of Higher Education in 2021, an Advancing Equity Award from the Massachusetts Commission on LGBTQ Youth in 2018, and a Diversity and Social Justice Award from MassArt in 2016. Alex became a member of the Massachusetts Bar in January 2021 and holds a J.D. with an Information Privacy Law Concentration, M.S. in Law & Public Policy, and Graduate Certificate in Data Analytics from Northeastern University; and a B.F.A. in Studio for Interrelated Media (with departmental honors) from MassArt.
  • Mel Taing (BFA Film/Video 2016) (she/her) is a Cambodian-American photographer, community artist and educator based in Boston. As a photographer, Mel specializes in creative portraiture and exhibition documentation. She photographs for several prominent arts institutions in the greater Boston area such as the MassArt Art Museum, ICA, deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum and MIT List Visual Arts Center. Mel is deeply invested in promoting cultural equity through the arts and is currently the Vice-Chair of the Alumni Leadership Council.
