https://bit.ly/JobeTheMusicalCommonHouse Theater and Productions Inc., in collaboration with Massachusetts College of
Art and Design, presents a multimedia concert featuring the music from Milton Wright's
groundbreaking Jobe the Musical, a soulful adaptation of The Book of Job, on July 20, 2025 at
3 p.m. at MassArt’s Tower Auditorium.
This Sunday afternoon event fuses stirring live vocals with immersive visual storytelling,
offering audiences an unforgettable glimpse into a story of ffaith, resilience, and the unwavering
spirit of perseverance. This concert brings the emotional world of Job to life, capturing
the soul of a man almost unbearably tested.
Jobe the Musical premiered at Hibernian Hall in Roxbury in sold-out performances in 2014 and
had another successful local run in 2016. Wright, a retired Boston Municipal Court judge who
has been a cornerstone of Boston’s Black Nativity performances for over 30 years, returns to
the soulful, funky, Afro-futurist, and gospel roots evident on his two cutting-edge, classic
albums, Friends and Buddies (1975) and Spaced (1977), which are currently enjoying a
resurgence in interest. Since the 2014 premiere of Jobe the Musical, Wright has been rewriting
and refining, and this special concert staging is a preview of a fully-staged production run
planned for the spring of 2026.
“The story of Job is one for the ages, as well as one for our current times and trials,” said Judge
Wright. “We are all being tested now, and there are lessons and laughs in this story about hope
and unity.” Wright will be part of the cast, alongside Ashley Villard, Toussaint the Liberator, Supreme, and
Darius Ware.
The concert performance will be directed by Milton Wright and Marilyn Andry. Kavayah Wright,
Judge Wright’s son, and a musician who has toured with Ky-Mani Marley, one of Bob Marley’s
sons, and many others, serves as the Director of Music.
Tickets for the performance are $10, and are available at
