MassArt is pleased to welcome Gideon Bok to the Fall 2023 Fine Arts Lecture Series. Bok joins the 2D and 3D Fine Arts departments, the Graduate Programs, and the MassArt community on Wednesday, September 27 at 12pm in the Design and Media Center Lecture Hall.

Gideon Bok is a visual and sound artist who lives and works in Maine. He received his BA from Hampshire College and his MFA from Yale University. Bok has received a Guggenheim Fellowship and a purchase award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, among other awards and grants. Bok has shown paintings and sound pieces in numerous solo and group exhibitions nationally,  and toured nationally with the New York based art/music collective Pelican Movement. Bok’s paintings are represented in numerous public and private collections, and his work has been used for album cover art in several releases of recorded music. Bok has visited many MFA and undergraduate art programs as a lecturer and critic including the New York Studio School, MICA in Baltimore, Indiana University, and the University of Washington, Seattle, among many others. Bok has taught full time at Yale School of Art’s Norfolk Program, Hampshire College, and Boston University. Bok’s paintings are represented by Steven Harvey Fine Art in New York and Alpha Gallery in Boston. He currently lives in Camden, Maine with painter Meghan Brady and their two kids, where Bok manages an organic farm.
