MassArt is pleased to welcome Charles Yuen to the Fall 2023 Fine Arts Lecture Series. Yuen joins the 2D and 3D Fine Arts departments, the Graduate Programs, and the MassArt community on Wednesday, October 11 at 12pm in the Design and Media Center Lecture Hall.

Charles Yuen has been awarded a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation fellowship, Adolf and Esther Gottlieb Foundation grant, and a Joan Mitchell Foundation grant. His work has been included in exhibitions at the Brooklyn Museum of Art, and the Newark Museum. Numerous solo exhibitions, primarily in NYC (1993 to present) include, Pierogi gallery, Pamela Salisbury gallery, and Elizabeth Harris gallery. Reviews of Yuen’s art have been published in Hyperallergic, Art in America, and the New York Times. Charles Yuen also had a recent solo exhibition, Rhyming the Invisible, at MassArt x SoWa's neighbour gallery, LaiSun Keane, which was reviewed by the Boston Globe!

Originally from Hawaii, Charles Yuen holds a MFA (Rutgers University) and BFA (University of Hawaii). Viewing art as connected to a social and civic vision, activities include a founding membership in Godzilla, an Asian American arts organization. Part catharsis, part poetics, inherently iconoclastic. Charles Yuen currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.

This event is free and open to the public.
