MassArt Continuing Education Presents: Think Thursdays
Fine Arts 2D: Drawing in a Wired World
Speakers: Yo Ahn Han, Catarina Coelho, Andrew Fish
Is your lamp as close to wired as you’ll get, or are you all in with every electronic tool imaginable? Painters, printmakers, ink throwers, line makers – let’s get together and talk.
Yo Ahn Han is a visual artist (painter), from the Republic of Korea. He currently resides in Boston, Massachusetts where he received his MFA 2D at Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt). He obtained a Bachelors of Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). Yo Ahn’s work has been shown internationally, in the United States, South Korea, and the Netherlands. Recent solo shows include “My Princess, Bari” at ART MORA Gallery in New York and “Dreaming Universe” at the Institute of Russian Healing Arts in Boston. His work has also been exhibited at several group shows including the Seventh Juried Exhibition at Prince Street Gallery in New York and Art Blossom Exhibition at Art Mora, NJ.
Born in Lisbon, Portugal, Catarina Coelho is a mixed-media artist whose drawings and printmaking work explore the subject of landscape as a testimonial site of the human interaction with a territory. While her artwork is based in drawing and printmaking, her artistic practice also includes painting and writing. Catarina Coelho studied painting and printmaking at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon and at the Accademia di Belle-Arti di Brera in Milan, Italy. She received an MA in Philosophy of Art from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon, and an MFA in printmaking from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Since 2004, Catarina Coelho has been exhibiting her work in Portugal, Spain, and most recently in Boston, MA.
Andrew Fish is a painter whose work explores human expression and the subconscious in contemporary life, and reacts to rapid changes in image creation in the digital age. Fish grew up in a Vermont printshop, where he first learned how technology could transform the rendering and reading of imagery. He was also an educational technology specialist at Massachusetts College of Art and Design before becoming a full-time artist. Fish is a recipient of a 2014 Somerville Arts Council artist grant.
