March First Friday features ARTIST TALKS with both Paul Belenky and Emma Anne Johnson and LIVE MUSIC from EmmAnnuel and The Unlimited Consciousness*!
*Emmannuel and the Unlimited Consciousness creates goth electro-soul bedroom pop anthems that you didn’t know you needed. Drawing inspiration from the pioneering sounds of Fiona Apple, PJ Harvey, and early electronic techno music, this creative force is not confined to a single realm; rather, it fearlessly explores the fusion of industrial grunge, the enigmatic allure of waves of synth and jazzy vocals.
Co-curated by Paul Belenky (MFA ‘17 2D Fine Arts) and Emma Anne Johnson, Tender Farms is an intricate vision of a petting zoo set in a reality where lab-grown meat and mechanized farming have made flesh and blood farm animals a forgotten phenomenon. This installation transforms the exhibition space into a multimedia display of mechanized animals. A network of motion sensors, switches, and knobs intricately woven into the environment invites visitor interaction. The intended effect is a sensory immersion into our future where the production of dairy and eggs is contingent upon electrical input rather than feed and water. On view until March 3, Tender Farms presents an environment where we hope to reminisce with you about the obsolescent farm animals of the past while also showing you the way forward. Drink your milk!
First Fridays are free and open to the public!
