Edgar Serrano is a painter whose work combines the metaphor of art as a window with the social realities of xenophobia in contemporary America. The window works as an allegory for screen culture, cultural translation, the flattening of information, and limitless borders. He received his BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and his MFA in Painting and Printmaking from the Yale University School of Art. Serrano’s work has been exhibited widely including, Art & Zimt, Shanghai, China; Bergen Kjøtt Gallery, Bergen, Norway; and Fredericks & Freiser, New York, NY. His work has been reviewed in The New York Times, Vogue México y Latinoamérica, The New Yorker, Art in America, New York Magazine, and Zing Magazine. Serrano was appointed Lecturer in Painting & Printmaking at Yale University School of Art in 2017.
