#Brant GalleryCraft and its relationship with canon and tradition are undergoing redefinition in the arts. The transformation is propelled by other paradigm shifts in art and education, most notably the turn to equitable and culturally responsive teaching and socially engaged art and design. The Craft in the Real World program contributes to MassArt’s understanding of these trends and opportunities, and their roots in the relationship between craft and world, culture and identity. Matthew Salesses is the author of eight books, most recently The Sense of Wonder and the national bestseller Craft in the Real World. He has received awards and fellowships from, among others, the PEN/Faulkner Foundation, Dublin Literary Award, Bread Loaf, Glimmer Train, and Mid American Review. Salesses was adopted from Korea. The talk will be introduced by Brenda Molife and Cheryl Clark. The panel, moderated by Marika Preziuso and Helen Miller, includes Taylor Davis, Ryan Diaz, Isabella Febbroriello, Will Johnson, Daphne Santana Strassmann, and Matthew Salesses.
