MassArt welcomes the 20th Annual Boston Palestine Film Festival for an evening of two screenings exploring memory, archives, land, and collective histories.

5:30 PM — 7ajr
7ajr presents work emerging from the 7ajr School for Creative Research/Resistance, a tuition-free hybrid workshop bringing together artists, students, and community members through online collaboration, in-person meetings, and field research in Ramallah. Working across sound, video, and storytelling, participants draw from personal narratives, family histories, landscapes, and archives to explore Palestinian experiences of memory, land, displacement, and solidarity.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with 7ajr participants, moderated by Nisa Ari, Associate Professor of Arts of the Islamic World, and Erik DeLuca, Associate Professor of Art Education and Contemporary Art Practice.

Beginning with a little-known 1980 record created to commemorate the twentieth anniversary of OPEC, An Incomplete Calendar draws together songs and archival materials to examine oil sovereignty, liberation movements, and histories of Pan-Arab solidarity and Palestine during the 1960s and 1970s.

Co-presented by MassArt Art Education and the Ciné Culture Screening Series as part of the Boston Palestine Film Festival.
