Co-Presented by Art Education and the Ciné Culture Screening Series
This evening of the Boston Palestine Film Festival presents two projects that draw on archives and memory to imagine future possibilities.
The 7ajar حجر School of Creative Research/Resistance is a hybrid counter-school shaped by a transnational community focused on Palestine. Rooted in family and community archives, it produces audio and video projects that respond to occupation and dislocation while reimagining how histories are told. For this screening, participants from the 2025 school will share their work, including Leena Ibrahim Abdelazim Aboutaleb, Ayah AlAhmad, Jessica Azizeh, Katie Baliki, Danielle Cowan, Isa Ghanayem, Stephanie Olivia Garcia, Zoe Hajara Vongtau, Anukriti Kaushik, Amal Ladadweh, Zoe Jane McClelland, Jawa Rafaee, Huda Salha, Shyama Sajadiya, Shahd Suliman Nimir Faraj, Idrees Sulqan, and others.
The Lost Paintings: A Prelude to Return reimagines the final exhibition of Palestinian-Lebanese artist Maroun Tomb, which opened in Haifa in 1947 on the eve of the Nakba. The project conjures Tomb’s lost works, turning absence into presence and reflecting on how cultural memory endures across rupture and exile.
Together, 7ajar and The Lost Paintings invite audiences to reflect on art, pedagogy, and cultural resistance—and to imagine futures rooted in justice and remembrance.
Seating is first come, first served.
