Oliver Strand is a poet and woodworker based in Gloucester, MA. He builds chairs with traditional hand tools in a one-person woodshop, inspired by the green wood technology of the mid-eighteenth century. Strand holds an MFA from Brown University and in 2012 completed a one-year apprenticeship at Toyama Furniture in Ebina-shi, Japan, thanks to the support of a Michael C. Rockefeller Fellowship. His furniture, sculpture, and poetry have been exhibited at Adams and Ollman, SOLOWAY, 10b Projects, Tiger Strikes Asteroid, Various Small Fires, and the Institute of Contemporary Art (Boston).
