Fall 2021 Art Education Speaker Series - Gabriel Sosa

Gabriel Sosa is a Cuban-American artist, educator, curator, and linguist. His multi-disciplinary practice incorporates drawing, video, and installation to explore how the use of language subtly shapes and disrupts our everyday experiences. His work has been shown at the O, Miami Poetry Festival; Museo La Tertulia, Cali, Colombia; Tufts University Art Galleries; Fábrica de Arte Cubano, Havana; A R E A, Boston; The Current, Stowe, VT; and the Contemporary Jewish Museum, San Francisco. Gabriel has been an artist-in-residence at Lugar a dudas, Cali, Colombia; Santa Fe Art Institute, Santa Fe, NM; Mass MoCA, North Adams, MA; Urbano Project, Boston, and Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History, Santa Cruz, CA. Born and raised in Miami, he lives in Boston where he is a lecturer at MassArt. Gabriel is also the Deputy Director of the Essex Art Center in Lawrence, Massachusetts.
