Members of the MassArt community are invited to experience an ambient mode soundscape with large resonant gongs, and other harmonic instruments in order to relax, shift, and de-stress. Participants will engage in a meditative, deep listening practice, potentially initiating the Relaxation Response.

Dates & Times:

  • Tuesday, March 31
  • Monday, April 13
     

There will be two sessions hosted on each scheduled date.

  • First session starts at 11:00am 
  • Second session starts at 12:10pm

Design Media Center (DMC)
Room D310 Sound Studio, 3rd floor

What you need to know/bring:

  • Bring a yoga mat, blanket/pillow, eye covering, whatever you need to feel comfortable while lying down on the floor listening to the sounds. 
  • There are chairs for those who prefer to sit.
  • Arrive a few minutes early to settle in.  
  • Each session will last approximately 50 minutes.
  • Once the event starts, the door will be closed so as not to disturb participants. Late attendees will be asked to wait for the next session to begin.  


Nancy Aleo is a cross-discipline artist with a studio practice ranging from mixed media drawing and painting, ceramics, to sound works and performances with large resonant gongs, singing bowls, and harmonious bells, incorporating Harmonic Therapies. Personal spiritual practices, along with decades of travel and study in Mexico inform her work. Nancy is a current Professor in the Studio Foundation Department at MassArt.
