Designer and filmmaker Walé Oyéjidé (of the brand Ikiré Jones) will screen the documentary film "After Migration: Calabria" while advocating for designers to take their practice out of showrooms and out into the world where they can enact real change.
In a discussion that traces his path from being a courtroom lawyer to becoming an artist whose work appears in major motion pictures ("Black Panther" and "Coming 2 America"), he will illustrate the importance of considering design work as a force for shaping culture, rather than viewing it as a means for commerce or escapism.
The event will end with a Q &A discussion where the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions.
Hosted by the MassArt Fashion Department and supported by the Student Government Association.
