About this Event
Please join us as we celebrate this year's George Nick Prize recipients!
The purpose of the George Nick Prize is to encourage emerging artists who create two-dimensional works - through observational abilities, drawing skills, and the understanding of the role of tone and color - that can be recognized in terms of subject and an emphasis on forms of realism. The 20th annual George Nick Prize Competition took place on Friday, May 6 & Saturday, May 7, 2022.
The prize is awarded on the basis of merit, upon the discretion of the jury. The current total prize amount is approximately $13,000, which is split between the selected winners.
The competition is open to all current MassArt students (undergraduate, graduate, and Continuing Education), but is restricted to works done in drawing, painting, and printmaking.
A jury led by MassArt Professor Emeritus George Nick and including Richard Raiselis, Eric Aho, Catherine Kehoe, Christopher Chippendale, and Ernst Von Metzsch review all submissions and select the recipients.
The jurors selected works from each reciepient, which will be exhibited in the Arnheim Gallery from May 18 through June 1, 2022. Please stop by and take a look!
