The Massachusetts College of Art and Design Photography Department is pleased to announce the 18th Annual Photobook Auction! For the third consecutive year, the event will be held at MassArt x SoWa, the MassArt Graduate Programs satelite gallery space in Boston’s SoWa arts district.

Please join us on Saturday December 9th for in-person viewing and bidding, culminating in a live auction event with refreshments from 5-7pm. The gallery is open for browsing at 11:00am.

The silent auction will feature some of this year’s highest rated photo books, and bidding starts at only half of their retail prices! This is a great opportunity to discover and collect work by artists such as Melissa Catanese, Jack Leuders-Booth, Nadia Sablin, Michael Turekand many more, while supporting the Photography Department’s graduating seniors.

The auction will also be a chance to view work from the Bold: Challenging norms, Igniting dialogue, on view at MassArt x SoWa from December 1 - January 7, with First Friday receptions on December 1 and January 5.

Proceeds from the auction fund the senior photography book, a department tradition that celebrates the graduating class with a collection of the graduating students’ work. The book is remade in a new form each year, designed by each class to serve as a cumulative portfolio of their time with the department.

Many of the book titles are available for viewing on the auction’s Instagram page. In addition to the signed artists books, four portfolios of original works by undergraduate photography majors will be available for purchase at the auction.

Please share this social account and event; we hope to see you at the auction.
