“E” is for Elephants: The Etchings of Edward Gorey offers a rare view of the original etchings, collagraphs, master printmaking plates, and hand-made soft sculptures created by the incomparable Edward Gorey in the last decade of his life. Highlighting the personal works and ephemera of the author and illustrator, with a particular focus on his depictions of elephants and other beasts, both earthly and imaginative. A prodigious artist, Gorey (1925-2000) published over one hundred books, created award-winning set and costume designs for theater productions from Cape Cod to Broadway, and reached millions of viewers through his animated credits for the PBS Masterpiece Mystery! series in the 1980s.
