How does creativity inform the ways in which we navigate social and cultural spaces? How does art translate the dissonance between how we see ourselves and how others see us? How do our experiences of “difference” and “foreigness” shape our choices of career and our professional and personal growth?
This program features interventions by Ryan Vazquez (Film/Video ’17); Gustavo Barceloni (Ceramics ’17) and Mariana Yanes Cabral (Art Ed ’17) as they share their practices of “translation” across linguistic, cultural and mediatic space through interactive performances, talks, and film screenings.
About Creative Counterpoints: This annual symposium explores converging narratives of creativity and difference by artists, writers, educators, and creative thinkers. This program is possible thanks to the generous support of the following MassArt departments: Academic Affairs, Alumni Relations, Career Development, Center for Art and Community Partnerships (CACP), Liberal Arts Department and Student Development.
Event Organizer: Marika Preziuso, Associate Professor in the Department of Liberal Arts. firstname.lastname@example.org
